Getting started

Insurance, referrals, and your first steps.

We work with major insurers and consultant referrals every day. Whether you are coming through insurance, a referral from your GP or consultant, or booking directly, the process is straightforward.

The process

From enquiry to first appointment.

  1. 01

    Check your cover

Call your insurer or check your policy documents to confirm physiotherapy is included. Ask whether you need a GP or consultant referral first, and whether there is an excess or session limit.

  2. 02

    Book your first appointment

Choose a time that works for you. You do not need a referral to book, but if you have one, bring it with you. We will take a full history, assess how you move, and explain what we find.

  3. 03

    We handle the rest

If you are claiming through insurance, we invoice your insurer directly where possible. If you were referred by a consultant, we keep them informed so your pathway stays coordinated.

Insurance

Recognised by major insurers.

We are recognised by the leading health insurers. If you are unsure about your cover, policy number, or whether you need authorisation, we can talk you through it before you book.

Consultant referrals

One coordinated pathway, not a chain of handoffs.

We work closely with orthopaedic surgeons across Milton Keynes. When a consultant refers a patient to us, we keep the pathway coordinated, from referral through treatment and recovery, so the same team follows the case, rather than handing it between disconnected providers.

The relationship runs both ways. If our assessment suggests a consultant is the better next step, we refer promptly rather than continuing treatment that is not the right fit. That is the "capability, not dependency" principle in practice, the goal is the right care at the right time.

Common questions

What people usually ask before booking.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. You can book directly. Some insurers require a GP or consultant referral before they will cover treatment, so it is worth checking your policy first.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring any referral letter, insurance policy details, and a list of current medication or recent scans. Comfortable clothing that lets us see the area we are assessing is also helpful.

Will my insurer be billed directly?

We invoice most major insurers directly. If your insurer requires you to pay and claim back, we will give you everything you need to do that.

What if I need to see a consultant?

If our assessment suggests a consultant is the right next step, we refer promptly. We do not keep people in treatment that is not the right fit, the goal is the right care at the right time.
